A week of family snapshots: good food, sleepy kids, and plenty of adorable baby faces.
Sunday:
Apparently it was E’s turn to get the kids dressed—stripes and plaid together, but somehow it works.
Wii basketball: double duty as exercise and toddler entertainment.
A little hesitancy about being naked—hold onto that modesty, at least for a while.
Monday:
Commanding the group after Stroller Strides—she knows how to lead.
- Naptime necessities: blanket, milk, a dump truck and a fire truck.
Caroline really looks up to her friend Maddie—those two are inseparable.
FaceTime with Daddy while he was away for work—big smiles from both sides of the screen.
Pasta with herb butter, goat cheese and heirloom tomatoes—my favorite summer meal, even if E isn’t a fan.
Tuesday:
I spent a dollar on the merry-go-round so my kid would put his shoes back on—worth it.
“Hey Mom, whatcha doing?”—always curious and ready to help (or interrupt).
A small tradition: buying a favorite sauce because it reminds me of one of our first dates.
Wednesday @ Mystic Seaport:
We visited the Amistad replica and explored the historic ships—always something new to learn at the seaport.
Playing pirates with Maddie in the children’s building—endless imagination at play.
A simple game we tried—E took to it right away.
Thursday:
Stroller Strides in action—exercise and play for both caregivers and kids.
Feeding the ducks at the historic village—perfect for curious little hands.
She seems to be much more comfortable now—no more nudity drama.
Friday:
A reminder of simpler times—old-school crafts and stories for the kids.
Nap time arrives whether the kids are ready or not—Mama wins this round.
Squash from our CSA—picked for eating, not just for decoration.
Trying out a baby faux hawk—instant attitude upgrade.
Saturday:
A SpongeBob coma after too much screen time—blame the husband’s movie choices.
Vanilla French toast for breakfast—simple, sweet, and kid-approved.
Putting the finishing touches on my living room redecoration—can’t wait to share the new look.
The recipe for Monday’s pasta came from a Rachel Ray magazine; I found a version online that I used for inspiration. E was away Monday, Tuesday and again later in the week, and those solo-parent days can really stretch you thin. By Friday I had mostly given up on leaving the house: the toddler watched endless Nick Jr while I nursed the baby and tried to keep the day moving.
This weekend is all about catching up on the cleaning and laundry I postponed in favor of naps and quiet moments hiding in the bathroom for a few deep breaths. I hope to post photos of the newly colorful living room on Monday, share a new recipe later in the week, and put together a short video of Caroline being her charming self soon after. Fingers crossed for a calm, tantrum-free weekend so I can reclaim a little sanity.
Did you capture any camera phone photos this week? I love seeing other families’ little moments—link up and share if you have snapshots to show.
